Pen to Print will be offering short courses to help writers improve their craft. Topics will range on the conventions of writing a good story, as well as genre-specific courses.

For your writer’s tool kit, conventions covered will include:

  • Creating realistic dialogue

  • Creating 3-dimensional characters

  • The importance of setting in a story

  • Writing strong narrative

  • The process of writing an interesting plot

  • Things to consider for your target readership and how this impacts your writing

  • Writing a structure that works

  • The importance of copyright

 

 

Genre-specific courses for fiction and nonfiction writing will include:

  • Children’s books (ranging from 0-12 years old)

  • Young Adult (YA)

  • Science-fiction

  • How-to books and guides

We will also include helpful resources that will be available to download for those who have a completed manuscript ready to send out into the world. These include:

  • The basics of self-publishing

  • Marketing your book for self-publishing

  • Creating your author platform

  • Organising your book launch

  • Options for cover design and cover services

  • ISBNs and barcodes
